Wales shot stopper set for talks with Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp
Life’s not fair at times, just ask Liverpool and Wales goalkeeper Danny Ward.
The twenty four year old was between the sticks for Liverpools’ Audi Cup final against Atletico Madrid in Munich last night and did his best to keep a clean sheet.
When Sime Vrsaljko found space and put a teasing volleyed cross into the middle, Angel Correa looked certain to score as he drilled an effort into the ground and sent it careering towards goal.
The ball rebounded and as Ragnar Klavan stood ball-watching, Keidi Bare nipped in front of him to nod the rebound beyond the helpless Welshman, who was getting back to his feet at the time.
Liverpool equalised through Firmino in the second half and took the game to penalties, but Ward was unable to stop the fine Atleti penalties and the Spaniards were victorious.
But that should take nothing away from what was a fine display from the Welshman.
