Manchester untied goalkeeping ace David De Gea equalled the Premiership League record for most saves made in a single game as his goalkeeping heroics earned Manchester United an excellent victory over Arsenal on Saturday.
Although the Man united emerged as 3-1 victors over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, they were under a huge amount of pressure throughout the game and were totally reliant on David De Gea.
Incredibly, he made 14 saves in the match – the joint most by any goalkeeper since they started recording statistics at the start of the 2003/04 season.
But it was his amazing performance of their goalkeeper that really stole the show; incredibly, Arsenal had 33 shots against United as they laid siege to David De Gea’s goal.
But he proved more than equal to almost everything that came his way.
The highlight of Davids performance was undoubtedly a super human double save that would have levelled the match. First from Lacazette sent a low, rasping shot towards the near post that De Gea did unbelievably well to claw out, and then he somehow managed to get up again to save again Alexis Sanchez’s follow up shot with his feet.
This performance by David De Gea will undoubtedly see him as the worlds best goalkeeper
